• BRINGING PACIFIC DANCE TO THE WORLD

VOU offers 4 terms (of 8 weeks) per year in both Nadi and Suva. Our highly trained dance teachers instruct all our classes, either having a University qualification in dance or have trained and toured internationally with the VOU dance company. VOU teaches technique as well as providing students with performance experience in the end of term concerts. 

Many of the VOU School students have gone on to represent Fiji at various international arts, music and dance festivals.

Our Classes

  • Hip-Hop (5-6 yrs)

    Simple Hip-hop with jazz influence. Here our little kids will be able to execute movement and musicality. These classes are available in both our Nadi and Suva schools. Join in the fun and enrol your child into our hip-hop class today.

  • Hip-Hop (7-8 yrs)

    This is a graduation class from the hip-hop 5-6 yrs. Here they learn more about different genre styles with Jazz influence. This class is also taught in both our schools in Suva and Nadi.

  • Hip-Hop (9-11 yrs)

    Enrol your 9-11 year olds and they will journey into hip-hop world, learning how to pop and lock, with less Jazz influence. It’s a class full of fun, movement and energy and never fails to impress.

  • Hip-Hop Beginners (12+ yrs)

    Hip-hop beginners is a really fun and active class. This class gained popularity in Suva and is a class that is always full of energy. This class is highly influenced by reggaeton and dance hall and explores the diversity of the hip-hop genre. This class is free to Nadi students, so come on down and enrol. Experience the fun and energy first-hand.

  • Hip-Hop Advanced (12+ yrs)

    This is another popular class that has brought out the best in our students. Just like the beginners class, this class explores the sub-genres of hip-hop. This class is only available in Suva and will be taught in the second term of the Nadi VOU School. Come experience and have a feel of our Energy, Spirit and Mana!

  • Ballet (5-6 yrs)

    This class explores the basics of ballet. We teach them the fundamental tools of being a trained dancer and incorporate different exercises to prepare them for the 7-8 yrs Ballet.

  • Ballet (7-8 yrs)

    This is where the class goes deeper into ballet and explore different styles, turns, positions. A class full of fun and engagement.

  • Adults Pacific (18+ yrs)

    Learn how to Tamure (Female Cook Islands dance), Pakoti (Male Cook Islands dance) Taualuga (Female Samoan dance) and Sasa (Samoan dance) like a pro. We offer a diverse range of Pacific dance from Cook Islands dance, Samoan dance, Tahitian dance, Hawaiian dance and many more. This dance class is full of high energy and fun choreography designed for students who are born to conquer challenges.

  • Contemporary (12+ yrs)

    This class focuses on enhancing technique and pushing ideas and boundaries to through movement and thinking. Here students will learn to move not only with their bodies, but with their minds and develop a greater understanding for contemporary dance.

  • Toddler Toes (for 1-2 year olds)

    This is a class where parents are invited to dance with the kids as they are often initially shy. The children at this age use the combination of dance, music, props and character in role-playing. They also start to learn about their locomotor skills through this.

  • Kids Creative (for 3-4 year olds)

    Kids Creative is a graduation from Toddler Toes and we start to encourage the parents to leave the children with the instructors. It is a similarly structured class but now more exercises are planned.

  • Cultural Dance Class SUVA (5-6 yrs, 7-8 yrs, 9-11 yrs and 12+ yrs)

    All cultural classes in Suva will learn about the fun and beautiful movement of our Polynesian countries of the Pacific

  • Cultural Class NADI (5-6 yrs)

    This term, our 5-6 year olds learn the fun and exciting Bollywood genre

  • Cultural Class NADI (7-8 yrs)

    Our 7-8 year olds are learning Pacific dance this term. Enrol your children as they delve into the diverse cultures of the Pacific

  • Cultural Class NADI (9-11 yrs)

    This class will learn a cultural dance much further away from home. Our 9-11 year olds are learning African dance and and experience amazing African movement

  • Cultural Class NADI (12+ yrs)

    This cultural class is going to experience traditional Fijian Dance. Here they will learn various “meke” movements and learn to tap into their Energy, Spirit, and Mana!

  • Adults Jazz (18+ yrs)

    A social class full of energy, competition, laughter and fun. This class is available to all abilities and ages from 18 to 100 years old. Come and learn jazz dance from our friendly teachers and experience the best classes you will ever have.

  • Contemporary (9-11 yrs)

    Students are able to engage performance and feel movement with their minds and bodies. This class will focus on the foundations of contemporary which are influenced by ballet.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do I enrol?

    You can enrol online here School enrolment. Or you can come to our temporary space at the Multiple Intelligence School, Lot 2 Rewa Street (Next to the Rewa Street Medical Center)  or Nadi 32 Naicker Street during the week before term starts between 3:30pm – 6:30pm.

  • Can I enrol once the term starts?

    If there is room in your class, yes you can enrol once the term has started.  However, many of the classes fill up in the first week.

  • How long does the term run for?

    Each term runs for 8 weeks and students enrol for the whole term.

  • What sort of classes does VOU offer?

    VOU offers a variety of mixed ability dance classes for all ages from 3 year olds upwards.  For detailed information about the classes please click here.

  • Can I do a drop in for a one off casual class?

    Unfortunately we don’t offer classes on a casual basis. However, you are welcome to try a one-off trial class for free.

  • How much does it cost?

     Toddler Toes class costs $80 for a 8-week term. All the other classes cost $100 per term.

  • What do I wear?

    Please wear comfortable clothes and bring some water.

  • Is there a performance at the end of the term?

    Once a year there is a public performance at the end of term. Dance techniques are worked on during all the terms.

  • Who teaches the classes?

    The classes are taught by VOU dance teachers and/or dance teachers from overseas depending on the term.
